How do you start to write?

Learn to turn a blank page into a successful writing assignment.

"Student Success Writing Skills" teaches essential writing and research techniques for high school and college classrooms. Before students can compose a sentence, paragraph or full essay, they must understand the fundamental principles that guide those assignments. How do you turn a sentence into a paragraph? How do you organize an essay? What is plagiarism? How can you use Google Docs to write and edit essays? This class provides the skills necessary to write successful classroom assignments.

No written assignments to submit to the instructor in this course. However, students can post questions and interact on the discussion board. The instructor is always available to answer questions and provide additional information as necessary to support student learning. Students must complete all lessons, and receive 75% on all quizzes to receive a certificate of completion.

As a result of taking this class, you will:
  • Learn to write sentences and paragraphs.
  • Get familiar with the writing process.
  • Learn to use online research and Google Docs to write essays.
  • Learn from a dynamic college English instructor with over 20 years’ experience who has recently published six books on grammar and proofreading, and actively freelances as a writer and editor.

    Student Testimonial

“I am working through this course to see if it could benefit my college freshman son, and wish I could have found this course before I began working on my Master’s Degree. It is very thorough, but the information and instruction does not bog down the student. I am passing this on to my son and would recommend to anyone needing a refresher or a fresh start at mastering advanced academic writing.”
